BuddhaChat ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the BuddhaChat mobile application ("App").
Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID identifier and, optionally, your name and email address (if you choose to share them). We also support anonymous accounts that do not require personal information.
Profile Data: Display name and spiritual preferences you provide during onboarding.
Practice Data: Meditation session records, practice statistics, and merit points generated through your use of the App.
Chat Content: Messages and media you choose to send in community group chats (Dojos), questions you post in the Q&A feed, and prompts you send to Ask. Ask conversations may be retained in app or service history so that you can continue a conversation. Optional long-term Ask memory is used only when you enable it.
Device Information: Push notification tokens for delivering notifications to your device.
Usage and Analytics Data: We collect information about how the App is used to understand engagement and improve BuddhaChat. This includes a randomly generated visitor identifier, your account identifier when you are signed in, basic device details such as operating system, device type, brand, and model, screens viewed, app-open events, sign-in and sign-up events, and referral or campaign attribution included in links you open. This information is stored in our Supabase backend for internal reporting and is not sold or shared for third-party advertising.
Media Data: When you choose to share a photo, file, voice message, or video in Community, the selected media is uploaded for delivery to the conversation. Camera and microphone access is requested only after you choose a feature that needs it.
Voice Input: When you choose voice input in Ask, audio is recorded temporarily and transmitted for speech-to-text processing. The resulting transcription is placed in the Ask input field.
Purchase Information: Apple App Store or Google Play processes and stores payment information for digital purchases. We receive purchase confirmation, product, entitlement, and subscription status through RevenueCat, but not your complete credit card details. For physical product purchases via PayPal, PayPal processes payment; we receive the shipping and order information needed to fulfill the order.

We retain account data while your account is active and for only as long as needed to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. You can delete your account in the App's Profile settings or submit a request through our Account Deletion page. Deletion removes the account, profile, and analytics events linked to your account identifier from our primary systems. Content already shared with other users in a Community conversation may remain in conversation history in a de-identified form; you may request review of specific content through the Account Deletion page. Aggregated or anonymous analytics that cannot reasonably identify your account may remain. Limited security, fraud-prevention, transaction, or backup records may be retained when legally permitted or required.
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure token storage provided by iOS and Android through expo-secure-store, and Row-Level Security (RLS) policies on our database to protect your data.
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. BuddhaChat prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation and maintains published Child Safety Standards for its Community features.
